I am really delighted to let you know that The Doctors Laboratory (TDL) has recently updated the payment options that are available for my Strep B testing kit. Until now, the only payment options have been to send a cheque or add your card details. I know from patient feedback, that neither of these methods are very useful. Most people don’t have cheque books any more and concerns about security of adding card details to the form are, of course, very valid.
So if you were to order a test now, you would get three options on the payment form (screenshot below) :
- Box 1 – You can pay by cheque.
- Box 2 – You can add your phone number and the Patient Finance Team at TDL will call you to take payment.
- Box 3 – You can add your email address and the Patient Finance Team at TDL will email you with a payment link to take payment.
- No additional administration fees will be taken if one of these methods is used.
Sorry for the shouty caps here but this is important:
PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU WILL NOT BE CONTACTED FOR PAYMENT UNTIL THE LABORATORY HAS RECEIVED YOUR KIT, IT HAS BEEN PROCESSED AND THE PAYMENT FORM HAS BEEN FORWARDED FROM THE LAB TO THE FINANCE TEAM. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS CAN TAKE A WEEK.
I also just wanted to add that the inclusive charge for the Doctor’s Laboratory (TDL) to review your test is currently £37.50 (June 2025). This is at a special reduced rate from the £55 fee that TDL are charging directly to their patients.
