Just sharing a really important message from Jane Plumb at GBSS:
Today we’ve launched our new campaign #EndGBSinfection on Sky News and we need your help!
Will you take two minutes to ask your MP to prioritise group B Strep research?
There is an ongoing trial into testing pregnant women for group B Strep, called the GBS3 Trial. The GBS3 trial is the best chance of getting the evidence for routine testing for group B Strep to be introduced in the UK.Please, will you take five minutes to email your MP and ask them to ensure your local hospitals take part? It really is now or never – with your help, it can be now.
The trial needs to have 80 hospitals taking part by September. Today, it has 30 hospitals signed up. We need 50 more hospitals to sign up for the GBS3 trial to succeed. It’s unforgivable that babies are getting sick and dying from preventable group B Strep infections. 26 years ago, my son Theo died from GBS infection. It has to stop.
Thank you so much for your support. Together, we can make a real difference.
With my best wishes,
Jane Plumb MBE FRCOG FRSA
